You Will Learn To:

- Explain the neurophysiology of pain related to pain conduction

- Describe basic pharmacology and drug interaction of local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors

- Assess medical and dental histories for patient selection

- Identify anatomic landmarks used in local anesthesia administration

- Select, prepare, maintain and dispose of pain control armamentarium

- Recognize and respond to emergency situations associated with the administration of local anesthesia

- Demonstrate competence in administering local anesthesia

- Comply with legal and ethical standards of pain control techniques

Continuing education:

Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.

Cancellation policy:

Cancellations received two full business days before the seminar date will receive a full refund. Companies cancelling with less than a two day notice will be responsible for the full fee. In the event of a "no show", payment for services is still required.
NWTC reserves the right to cancel any seminars due to insufficient enrollments or if conditions beyond our control prevail. If NWTC cancels any seminar, participants will receive a full refund.


What to Bring: All participants must bring current Dental Hygiene license, current CPR/Health-care Provider certificate from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, clinical attire (to include at least lab coat, shoes and safety glasses), syringes for local anesthesia (what you use in your practice), bib clip,and mouth mirror.

Course Materials
The course textbook and informational handouts will be mailed to participants prior to the course in order for the participant to complete pre-course assignments.

As of November 1, 1999, registered dental hygienists in the State of Wisconsin are permitted to practice the administration of local anesthesia according to the rules and regulations of Chapter DE 7 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code.

NWTC has developed a comprehensive course in local anesthesia which includes 10 hours of didactic instruction and 12 hours of clinical instruction.

This course teaches the dental hygienist how to safely and effectively select, handle and administer local anesthetic agents. Participants will have hands-on experience as they practice their skills on each other.

Session Cost: $650.00

Cost includes: refreshments, lunch, class supplies, and textbook for all three days. (out of state may be higher)
